Better Canvas

Better Canvas is for students who use Canvas every day and want it darker, more personal and better organized, including schools on their own Canvas domains. A few helpers such as roster export and ungraded counts appear only for teachers and TAs.

It is plain JavaScript with no framework. Each feature registers an idempotent apply step that runs on every change Canvas makes to the page, so styling survives its re-renders. The dark mode reads each element’s computed colors and retags only the ones that need changing, and the same engine runs inside SpeedGrader, New Quizzes and other same-origin frames.

Planner and grade data come from the school’s own Canvas API with the student’s existing session, and marking a task done writes back to Canvas. Settings stay in the browser, with no account and no telemetry.
